The supermarket growing food on its roof

‘Food from the Sky’ has planted a vegetable garden on top of Thornton's Budgens supermarket in Crouch End– and its founder wants other shops around the country to do the same. The aim is to create a template to show that produce can be grown in cities, and sold locally.

Save bread, grow your own loaves

Alex Renton talks about the Real Bread Campaign and its call to ‘Bake your Lawn’. The Real Bread Campaign have been distributing packs of organic wheat seed to people who want to have a go at growing their own. According to organiser Chris Young, a square metre of turf is sufficient for enough grain to make one loaf.
